I love the mower, but this component is ridiculously constructed of brittle (read easily breakable) plastic. If you run over a piece of solid debris your fan is pretty much toast. The first time I ordered this part the mower was a new product and I had to find a company that specializes in supplying mower repair shops to get this replaced. The fact that it is even available on Amazon says it all. Caused the motor to have a difficult time getting up to speed, also making a loud grinding noise in the process. This was because assembly became out of balance (the blade was not). This little gadget is the cat's meow!..I love it. It goes whirrrrr...it kools the engine...it protects the motor. Every electric mower should have one. Definitely worth the price of admission. I had to use a socket (from a socket wrench) and a hammer to get the fan properly seated.. A spark plug socket would likely work best because it's long enough so the bar that sticks through the hole in the fan doesn't hit it. Place the socket over the bar that comes through the middle of the fan and tap it a few times with the hammer... that will seat the fan as it should be and allow the bar to stick out far enough to attach the blade.
